Amino Acids can be further categorized into essential, non essential and semi essential. The essential are those which can not be synthesized by the organism whereas the non essential ones can be synthesized. The non essential are derived from the body itself from other compounds or as byproducts of chemical reactions.

They come in D-form or L-form. It is advisable to choose the "L" form, as proteins in humans are generally found in "L".
